Breathe in the wild air (life around here lately)
“Nothing you do for children is ever wasted” Garrison Keillor
Here we are in the woods, on our favorite trail, after a huge rainstorm.
Here I am accompanying a thoroughly soaked and utterly joyful almost 2 year old who made it his mission to discover every puddle on the path.
We left the woods covered in mud and rainwater and crushed leaves.
We left with sun warmed onto our faces.
The woods always bring me back to center and to the lessons that matter most. Today’s lessons: go with the flow, let yourself explore, definitely get a little messy, and don’t forget to breathe in the wild air. Challenge accepted.

I was putting together orders for UncommonGoods this week and noticed that both messages (breathe. explore) fit so perfectly with the morning we’d had out in the woods. I think part of the reason I’ll always love these designs so much is how simple yet powerful it is to be reminded daily to breathe in and out, to try something new. I have this Breathe print in my bedroom as my own personal reminder for when I start my day.
Here’s the print (with no mat), already sealed in its protective sleeve. You can find the Breathe print here.
And here are a few of the orders before I put them into the shipping mailers. The Explore print on the right is matted, the other two are not. You can find the Explore print here.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the first weeks of May (my favorite month! my birthday month!). Over here we’re in the final weeks of Eric’s schooling (it’s been a 7 year program and he’ll graduate in June. I’m so excited as we’ve worked incredibly hard for so long to support him through school), I turn 35 next week (stay tuned for a special birthday sale!), and Isaac’s 2nd birthday is just around the corner. It’s a time of celebration and acknowledgement, of taking deep breaths and shedding some happy tears.
Are you celebrating anything this month? I’d love to know so I can celebrate with you.
In the meantime, have a beautiful day!
