We are enough (plus, a new painting!)
“If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your path” – Buddha
Here’s my latest painting, which I made last week as part of my hour-long creative sessions. I feel super excited about this one, like something in my style has shifted ever so slightly and made room for growth. Do you ever feel this way about something you create?
There are endless ways to paint a sky. I’ve been pushing myself lately to keep experimenting and tell a deeper story with only color. I feel like the color shifts in this sky point to some quiet mystery just out of sight. Can you feel it, too?
Also: I wanted this painting to be about love.
I’ve been pretty obsessed with love lately, learning to more fully love myself as well as others.
Love connects us – to ourselves, to each other. Love helps us to practice forgiveness. Yet for many of us, love can be hard to fully accept and let in.
I’ve been hearing a similar story crop up recently from so many:
I am not enough. I am not worthy of love, of a relationship, of success.
Hello, fear! Deeply ingrained and often outside of the conscious mind, but fear all the same. For so many of us, it can take years to fully break down old patterns of thinking in order to let love in and feel happiness.
I’m no stranger to my own patterns of not feeling worthy. To letting fear creep in and cloud my thinking.
Painting about love is like my antidote to fear, like a message sent directly from my heart into the world. I’ll continue to follow this path wherever it leads.
So here is your gentle reminder, yours and mine.
You are enough. We are enough.
We are beautiful and sacred and cherished.
Let love in.
Here’s to us,
Ursula Markgraf
What a wonderful piece! Love it!
And I also can relate to fear of not being enough. I suppose everyone can, right? I also find thart art making helps among others things.

Thanks so much, Ursula! <3 I think you're so right about making art - that definitely helps. I think the fear is common for all of us, but talking about it and helping to lift each other up helps so much.
