Ease and trust (plus, personalized artwork!)
“Creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence” – Osho
This week my heart has felt so open and ready to learn, and this is quite the sensation after spending so many years in the fog of the wrong work environment.
I’m becoming more aware that living through my art will mean always feeling slightly un-tethered, walking up and down and across a path where it’s my job to make up the rules. As a rule-abider for all of my working life, I continue to adjust and adjust. I continue to search for the ease in each day and each moment.
This week’s painting is all about ease and trust (I find ease in painting without judgment. I trust that listening to my heart will always lead me where I need to be).
When I finished painting, I wrote out the following message:
Today I painted something quite different. I’ve been feeling the overwhelm recently of trying to build my own business and I needed to simply play. So I did. This is not a polished painting by any means, but there’s a messy, happy quality to this that let me breathe a little easier. It says ‘dare to be you,’ which popped into my head so quickly that it felt like I was being sent the message I needed to hear. I’m going to take this as a reminder that it’s okay to loosen up now and again, as there’s always something to learn when you do.”
It can be easy to forget in the midst of to-do list overwhelm that I started this new path to infuse more joy into my life. For me, joy emerges when I trust, trust, trust. When I let go of the rules for a moment. When I let people and experiences in and allow them to teach me something new.
This week’s painting is all about flow. I’m choosing to trust that the exploration I’m doing is a necessary awakening and that my job is simply to be present for the unfolding.
There’s ease in this choice, and I’m grateful. It’s like I’m telling the critical part of my brain to step aside for a moment so I can be in the flow. Like I’ve stepped away from my lists and books and said okay trust, I’m here. I’m listening.
I recently put all of my recent paintings together so I could see the progression of what I’ve done this winter. The desire to explore is so evident when I see them all together.
Seeing them all together like this makes me smile! LOVE.
And speaking of exploration, I also have a fun new announcement in my shop: I’m now doing custom wording on my art prints!
This winter I’ve had a few requests for custom wording (adding a name, removing the existing text and adding a new message). I hadn’t originally considered offering personalized artwork as an option in my shop, but it’s been such a pleasure to hear people’s stories and how they want to adapt my art to share their love with others.
As I thought about it, this is one of the main reasons I paint in the first place: to inspire, share love, and provide a unique way for you to do the same. So far I’ve added custom wording to my prints in celebration of new babies (which is just the cutest), but there are SO many reasons to reach out to a loved one with a personalized message.
I have two new listings (unmatted and matted print options), which explain the options and restrictions. The details are all in my shop, but of course feel free to reach out to me with questions.
Here to ease and life in the flow,
Kevin
Well done and well said, Elizabeth! I love the idea of customizing paintings for your clients. It’s kinda like a movie star signing a portrait for a fan, but your way is more like creating a friend for life!
