A happiness post (plus: life around here lately)
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change” Wayne Dyer
Who needs a little happiness today?
It’s no secret that the world is hurting right now. There’s a lot of anger and confusion and I’ve been feeling at such a loss about how to manage the enormity of what I feel. Regardless, I’ve watched in pride as people all over America (and the world!) stand up in support of one another.
The silver lining to all of this has been witnessing how much love there still is to be shared, even among strangers. I have hope for us, I really do.
I needed some happiness this week, so I’ve been seeking out examples wherever I can find them. Here’s what I’ve found is working for me:
♥
Cute baby pictures.
Seriously, friends. I take so many pictures of this little munchkin to look at when I need a pick-me-up. Here he is eating some of his first fruits and veggies:
And here he is in his toy box:
He’s almost 8 months old and wants to be awake 24/7 so he can keep exploring. I feel like I spend a large majority of each day trying to get him to sleep, but I totally get it! I never liked going to sleep as a kid either. He’s sitting up well now and beginning to eat food and I don’t know when he’ll start crawling but I think we’re getting closer by the day. This is a wild ride!

Great memories.
After almost 4 years, we finally framed one of our favorite wedding photos (photo by Lisa Schaffer). I love so much about this photo: the beautiful mural backdrop at my elementary school, some of our favorite people standing with us, the memory of marrying my best guy.
♥
Inspirational reminders (which are never far away when you need them).
I keep this little scrap of paper on my desk as a reminder when I get too bogged down in day-to-day details. It’s not that I can drop everything and go on a trip, but I try to notice little adventures throughout the day as they happen, from getting outside to exploring new foods with the babes.
♥
Art.
Happiness is creating new artwork and it makes my heart sing when other people enjoy that artwork as much as I do. Here’s what I’m getting together to ship out so far this week:
♥
Helping others.
Right now what our world needs more than anything is for all of us to help each other.
Let’s keep our eyes and hearts open today and each day moving forward. Let’s help each other (nothing makes me happier than that).
What’s making you happy this week?
With love,
Toni
Elizabeth,
The quotes that you share are often just the impetus I need to think carefully about my life. One that continues to stay with me is the Mary Oliver quote which graced your wedding invitation…
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
Thanks for nudging me to keep my outlook positive, kind, creative, and happy.

Hooray! and yes, that Mary Oliver quote is one of my all-time favorites :)
