I carry your heart (plus: painting progress and Isaac’s 8 month photo shoot!)
“I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)” e. e. cummings
This is how I want to focus on the passing of Valentine’s Day this year:
I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart).
I always found Valentine’s Day stressful growing up, as getting valentines from classmates felt more like a popularity contest than an expression of anything genuine. I’m in a much happier place now but I still like to think about creating space in my heart for anyone who needs it. So many people (including you!) have touched me simply by being here and being your wonderful selves.
That’s an amazing gift that I don’t take lightly. Let’s carry each other and keep each other safe.

I’ve started a new painting!
It feels so good to be creating again after a hiatus around the holidays. I’m now carving out more time in the evenings as Isaac goes to sleep earlier, so the goal is lots more painting time in the immediate future.
The painting I’m working on is a 20 x 16 wood panel and I’m still in the experimentation / trying different colors / figuring out what works phase:
I’ll be updating Facebook and Instagram as I make progress on the painting over the next few weeks if you want to follow along.

Isaac is 8 months old! We took his 8 month photos at the beginning of February:
He’s growing so fast! He loves reading books, playing music, trying to stand, and eating new foods. I’m simultaneously in love and have never been so exhausted in my life though that seems pretty standard for a new parent, yes?
Isaac is wearing month 8 from my sticker set, which you can find here. Don’t you love how much the sticker colors pop against his clothing? LOVE!

I recently shipped this painting out to a new home and the message still rings so true for me as a business owner, artist, mama, and individual. Maybe you too?
I committed long ago to this path though I’ve never been able to see the end of the road. Each morning begins with the decision to focus on being my best mama self, then I switch to my best business self when Isaac is sleeping. It’s a love practice and a devotion practice, choosing to trust that I’m headed somewhere special even during my hardest days.
None of us can see the turning points on our paths before they happen, but that’s part of the magic. On the days when I’m too tired and can’t feel the magic, I let myself off the hook. I ask for a hug. I drink tons of water. I think about my favorite people one by one and gratitude blooms once again.
If you’re feeling great today, please keep spreading that joy – we need it! and if you’re feeling off, we’ve got you!
Sending lots of virtual hugs. I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart).
With love,
